  • Is this housing open to anyone?  Yes
  • Is this housing for private pay customers?  Yes but other methods will be considered.
  • Is this housing only for handicap people?  No, but it is designed to be handicap friendly.
  • Is there discounts for prepaying?  No but prepaying will guarantee your rental rate for that period plus one additional period.  For example if you prepay for one year, you will be allowed the same rate for 2 years etc.  This allows for financial stability for our customers for as long as they would like, up to a maximum of 10 years fixed rate.
  • Do I have to take additional health or home services offered in order to be a customer of CarefreeCottages?  No, you may be only a renter and not participate in the many health and home services offered by our providers.
  • Who are your care provider partners at this facility?  Home Instead and Amedisys Home health care. See details below.
  • How old do I need to be to be at this facility?  There are no age restrictions.
  • Can I rent two units that are attached?  Yes, based on availability you may rent two units, ajoining or non-adjoining.  This is perfect for private caretakers or related parties that would like separate but nearby living spaces.
  • What are the ongoing costs other than my lease payment?  The other cost while small as the unit is cottage size are electricity, water and telephone.  Internet is provided for free as is the 24 hour video surveilence. Estimated monthly costs are between 50.00 to 100.00 per month depending on phone service choices.
  • What are our main features?
    • Our focus is on safety, accessiblity, and economy. 
    • Our facility is a very cost effective place to live. 
    • Flowers and gardening space-
    • A real focus on gardening and flowers is another feature.  We want our customers to make this their home. 
    • Our choice of roses is important as they bloom spring to fall and give tenants the opportunity to have fresh cut flowers 8-9 months out of the year in their home.  These roses are taken care of by our staff and only the additional gardening space is an optional space for our clients to work themselves.
    • The rear gardening bed is a raised bed.  This makes it easy for clients to work thier vegetables from a seated position beside the garden.   We encourage clients planting fruiting plants like tomatoes!
    • Home like setting is important.
    • This includes the design of the 4 unit house.  Everyone has 2 outside light sources.
    • This includes natural light from 2 sides of the unit, sustainable red roses planted all around the building and near the windows for viewing inside and out.
    • Technology- 
    • This unit is very progressive when it comes to tech!  No key for your cottage as we have a number punch code system for entry.  You can even lock your door after you have left! 
    • Add on this the ability to watch all 4 high resolution LED infrared video cameras right on BOTH Google TV's in your cottage!  You can see completely around your building 24 hours a day!  With a passcode friends and family can ALSO view your cottage or even see you if you step outside!  There is no additional cost for these services.
    • Why is a Google TV important?  It allows for even the less techy person to surf the internet, use facebook and get email with a big 42 inch easy to read screen.  Read more.
    • You don't need to pay a cable bill either.  Your cottage will include FREE off air high definition television reception from an antenna.  Including all major stations, a weather station from WBIR and 20 other station all in digital quality.  Cable can be purchased separately.

Do I have to sell my home in order to live at CarefreeCottage? No, in most cases our costs are so low starting at 600.00/month lease rate folks may opt to keep their home.

  • Can I use my home as collateral to lock in my lease rate?   Yes that can be used as an option to secure your rate for longer periods and does not require you to sell your home.
  • How are the grounds kept? We pride ourselves in creating a sustainable living space including a beautiful use of red knockout roses throughout the property.  Each unit will have at least two roses outside each window of your cottage.
  • What exactly are the services our contractors offer at our facility?
